What’s the difference between luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile?
You are in the market for a new floor, and you've settled on luxury vinyl. But the question is, which one? Tile or Plank? At Discount Carpet and Flooring, we get this question all the time. We can answer it for you.
Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) comes in a square format. The tile is usually stiff and harder than the vinyl plank. You have the option of getting grout in the installation to enhance the tile appearance further.
Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) comes in a plank format. It has long strips of varying lengths. It is flexible and molds nicely to the subfloor.
Both LVT and LVP are very similar. They both have outstanding durability for every room in your house. They both have a top layer with a wear layer against scratches, nicks, fading, and dents. The wood-look usually comes in the plank format, whereas the tile, stone, and brick look come in the tile format. Both can come in a plethora of colors and patterns. At its core, both are made of a plastic composite layer, wood for plank, and tile for tile. The core is made of PVC, which is a standard construction material. It is entirely impervious to water.
So the real question is, which do you want? Do you prefer a wood look or a stone or tile look? Whatever your preference, luxury vinyl can meet it.
